Postgraduate Certificate in Food Laws and Regulations
Introduction Road Map
Introduction
Nearly every aspect involved in the food industry, starting from production to processing, packaging, food safety, and quality assurance, storage, and distribution, as well as food labeling, are governed by a comprehensive set of food laws, regulations, guidelines, controls, and codes of practice. Continuous improvement in terms of enforcement of these laws, as well as their compatibility with the internationally-recognized compendium of rules such as FAO’s Codex Alimentarius, ensures that the food reaching the consumers is of good quality, safe, hygienic, and nutritious. Moreover, these regulations also guide the standards for nutrition labeling, giving consumers peace of mind about what they are consuming.
SFAS is offering a 6-month program culminating with the award of a certificate and is aimed at young professionals looking to develop a general understanding of the prevailing food regulations at both national and international levels, as well as being capable of aiding the provincial food regulatory authorities in creating and spreading awareness regarding various food safety issues.
