Vision of the Program
The vision of the BS Food Science and Technology program is nurturing graduates with a profound knowledge base in food science, complemented by applied research skills that provide valuable insights into the dynamic and evolving field. Fostering effective communication skills, organizational aptitude, and teamwork, the program aims to equip students to work effectively in the food industry, critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership abilities to meet the challenges of an ever-changing global food industry.


Mission Statement of Program
The mission of the BS Food Science and Technology program is to develop expertise in the principles of food science, fostering proficiency in applied research. Through the development of communication competencies, organizational and collaborative skills, students will learn to work effectively in teams, enabling them to apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership abilities in the dynamic field of food science and technology.

Food Technology is an application of food sciences that involves the selection, preservation, processing and packaging of food products based upon food chemistry, biology, and engineering principles. Development of food safety and food quality systems are at the heart of food technology programs.

This program assists students with a strong comprehension of all aspects of food processing and food product development that are aligned with the latest processing and analytical techniques. Moreover, this food technology program is designed to provide the latest knowledge about novel functional foods, sensory evaluation techniques, and current food laws and regulations.

"Additionally, our program is the first undergraduate program in Pakistan to receive accreditation from the internationally-acclaimed Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), in a short time span of just 6 years. Moreover, we are the first institute in South Asia, and among only a handful of Asian institutes (19 in total) to be recognized as such. Overall, only 44 international institutions have received this recognition for their undergraduate programs so far."

Admission Requirements:

  • F.Sc (Pre-Medical and Pre-Engineering) are eligible with 50% marks

  • MCAT or UMT Admission
